Travelling light

Packing for Brighton and here is this week's travel kit. Now I have the P9 with it's excellent 27mm f/2.2 lens I have left the Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 (28mm equivalent) at home.

I wish the charger was less bulky. The Samsung 7.5mm fisheye is coming with me this week as not used this fun lens for a while. Strap is by Thomas Leuthard from Austria.

Panasonic at Photokina

Watching with interest today's official announcements from Photokina for both Panasonic and Olympus since I currently use the Micro 43rd system and own Panasonic and Olympus Lenses.

Little disappointed as all three new lenses announced by Panasonic are zoom lenses and I only use prime lenses these days. I am currently tempted though by the Panasonic 100-300 zoom which becomes a 200-600 zoom on Micro 43rds cameras.

Olympus announcements are at 18:30 today Berlin time. Rumours are for a new 25mm f/1.2 prime and also a 30mm f/2.8 macro lens along with the new E-M1 Mk2 and E-PL8 (I own a E-PL7)

My first Chocolate Pavé

Yesterday I attempted my first ever Chocolate Pavé:

I used a recipe from my Lindt Chocolate Recipe Book using 90% Dark Chocolate rather than 70% Dark Chocolate (Not sure what impact this has other than maybe a richer cake)

The cake itself was spiced with Ground Cinnamon (Not sure I put enough in), some Ground Cardomon (Think I put too much in), Madagascar Vanilla Extract and Tallisker Whisky.

Cake Ingredients

The original recipe had 2 teaspoons of rum (Or was it tablespoons) I put 4 teaspoons of Tallisker in the cake plus had a spoon myself, purely for medicinal purposes.

Finished cake decorated with wild flower

Cake itself turned out lovely and dense like a paving slab which is what the French word Pavé means I believe. Now I await some friends to test the cake and give their verdict.

Back to the blogosphere

So I have rejoined the blogosphere.

First job was choosing a blog name and I have chosen Bricks, Bread and Bokeh. The intention is to blog about my three main interests; namely Civil Engineering (My career), Bread as one hobby is cooking plus I want to learn to bake, lastly Bokeh which is to do with photography and blurry backgrounds.

Before I unleash my site on friends and family I will need to get familiar with Blogger again, find a simple template which works well on mobile devices and also think of a logo or a brand to watermark my photographs with. All going well I will try and post daily once I have set up my mobile devices to edit my new blog.
